Oregon Coastal HAB data

The Oregon coastal HAB project uses data from a variety of sources:

1) The ODA (Oregon Dept of Agriculture) Food Safety Division monitors levels of domoic acid and saxitoxin in shellfish harvested along the Oregon coast. Below is an example of this year's toxin levels at central Oregon beaches.
Follow this link for complete ODA toxin data.

2) The ODFW (Oregon Dept of Fish and Wildlife) provides counts of cell density (cells per liter) for potentially toxic phytoplankton such as Pseudo-nitzschia species. Below is an example of this year's data at Agate Beach in central Oregon.
Follow this link for complete ODFW cell count data.

3) Satellite derived Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and Chl a are obtained from CoastWatch (the West Regional Node) and/or MODIS Aqua data generated at Oregon State University (see images at right).

4) In situ data are also collected by the lab, and analyzed for Chl a, Domoic Acid and phytoplankton species and counts.

The above data are combined to produce plots such as the one below.
